Formula One Divided - Break away announced

What is happening to Formula One?

Formula One Teams Association vs FIA

The Formula One Teams Association vs The FIA

With Formula One in turmoil and FOTA announcing today a break away championship, where to the pinnacle of motorsport stand.

Ferrari, Mclaren, Renault, BMW, Toyota, Red Bull, Torro Rosso and Brawn GP will be from 2010 starting there own championship. This has come about over the last few months since the end of last season championships due to the FIA imposing more and more stringent technical and capital regulation, on the teams currently involved in the championship. Although this has been a great impetus in terms of attracting new teams to the sport, the break away championship could now see a rapid exit from the new entries as they like the teams involved with FOTA want to be racing against the best.

The new championship will according to the FOTA meeting held last night at Renault's Enstone headquarters, provide a more valued set of regulations aimed at reflecting the values of all the teams participating and the partners involved.

The championship also hopes to involve the fans, partners and stakeholders more than at present.

FOTA agreed that the FIA's last gasp offer to reduce some of their concessions was little too late, and the fact that they had tried to help the FIA in fine tuning how Formula One operates, while being knocked back all contributed to the break away.

As a results of 8 of the biggest names in Formula One departing it would seem that many of the new entrants for the 2010 championships may now be drafted in, this includes team such as Team Lotus, Prodrive Aston Martin, MyF1Dream.com, Brabham and more, however, on everyone's mind is will they now want to enter particularly with a likely loss of numerous sponsorship and partnership deals.

Should they wish to Join Williams, Force India, Manor F1, USF1 and Campos F1, will it ever be the championship it once was?

The breakaway not only affects Formula One, but how will it affect some of the biggest aspects of the sport, for example who will cover this new Championship, the BBC has just forked out millions to cover F1, can they afford this too, my bet will be SkySports or back to ITV, and then there is Donnington Park, will they now be holding the pinnacle of motorsport? Who knows?

Simply what is going to happen? Where will be in 8months time at the start of next years FIA Formula 1 Championship, Albert Park, or elsewhere?

Very Interesting indeed. However good luck to both Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton at Sundays British Grand Prix from Silverstone. For race results from Formula One and many other motorsport championship, check out www.jamesjakes.com
